In 2007 NettZero’s director Matt Greening saw there was a dire need for sustainability experts in a time when standards and regulations were in their infancy, if they existed at all, and the integration of sustainability principles in business was sparse. With two young children and growing concerns about the climate their generation would inherit, Matt left his corporate role and in 2008 founded NettZero from the garage of his home in Brisbane.
Over best part of two decades Matt has built a highly regarded team of engineers and business development specialists who share a passion for sustainability. NettZero operates Australia wide helping organisation’s reduce costs, manage emissions, and make better decisions for the future of the climate, as well as their business.

We commit to this through our Climate Active Public Disclosure Statement, detailing our emission inventory, reduction progress, and offset initiatives, and our annual ESG report, tracking progress towards our sustainability goals. These reports offer a clear, comprehensive view of our environmental, social, and governance efforts, ensuring our claims of sustainability are backed by verifiable data. By openly sharing our journey, we not only hold ourselves accountable but also encourage a culture of transparency and responsibility in the wider community, leading by example in the pursuit of a more sustainable and ethical business landscape.
Commitment to Emission Reductions
The Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) provides a rigorous framework for companies to set emission reduction targets in line with the latest climate science.
It ensures that corporate actions contribute meaningfully to the global effort to limit warming to well below 2°C, aiming for 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. NettZero has proudly committed to aligning our emission reduction strategies with these ambitious global targets. By doing so, we not only underscore our dedication to a sustainable future but also set a benchmark for our industry and clients. Carbon Neutral Business
NettZero is proud to be certified as a carbon-neutral organisation through Climate Active, an initiative backed by the Australian Government.
This certification is a testament to our commitment to achieving real environmental impact. Each year, we calculate our carbon emissions, report on progress against our emission reduction goals, invest in credible offset projects both in Australia and internationally, and undergo validation of our emission inventories to ensure the highest level of integrity. This process not only reaffirms our dedication to sustainability but also reflects our commitment to transparency and accountability in our operations. 100% Renewable Energy
In our journey towards sustainability, NettZero has taken steps to ensure that all our offices are powered by 100% renewable energy.
We achieve this through the purchase of Large Scale Generation Certificates (LGCs), which support the generation of renewable energy across Australia. This commitment not only significantly reduces our carbon footprint but also aligns with our overall mission to promote environmental stewardship. By investing in renewable energy, NettZero is not just contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions; we are also supporting the growth of the renewable energy sector, driving innovation, and setting a standard for sustainable business practices.
