Representing roughly 8% of global CO2 emissions, concrete is a staple of our built environment that has proven to be a difficult material to manage in terms of carbon reduction. Recently the Cement, Concrete and Aggregates Australia (CCAA) has commissioned a report on decarbonisation pathways for Australia’s concrete industry. Reducing spillage and waste, designing buildings for future retrofits, and investing in carbon capture and storage technology are all key pillars of the plan to reduce embedded carbon and help meet emissions reduction goals.
