By purchasing carbon credits, companies can offset their emissions, supporting projects that reduce CO2 levels. A diverse portfolio of carbon credits, including Voluntary Carbon Units (VCU), Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCU), and Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGC), offers flexibility, spreads risk, and supports a range of environmental and social initiatives.
NettZero specialises in creating custom carbon credit solutions to align with any budget, ensuring investments are environmentally sound and socially responsible, while meeting sustainability goals.

Life Cycle Assessment

How it works

Determine Budget

Assess your financial resources to establish how much you can invest in carbon credits.

Identify Preferred Unit Types

Choose between Voluntary Carbon Units (VCU), Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCU), and Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGC) based on your sustainability goals.

Determine the Mix

Decide on the proportion of each credit type in your portfolio to balance environmental impact, your social objectives, and budget considerations.

Retire the Units

Once purchased, officially retire the credits to ensure they are counted towards your carbon offsetting efforts. Obtain a certificate or digital confirmation, verifying the retirement of your credits and your contribution to environmental sustainability.

Key Benefits of Emission Offsetting:
  • Directly mitigates climate change by financing projects that reduce, remove, or avoid GHG emissions, supporting renewable energy, and fostering reforestation and conservation efforts.
  • Offers cost-effective compliance with carbon regulations and fosters innovation, leading to more efficient technologies and opening up new market opportunities.
  • Enhances brand value and reputation by demonstrating a commitment to sustainability, attracting eco-conscious customers, investors, and employees.
  • Provides global reach and scalability, allowing businesses to support emission reduction projects worldwide, tailored to their specific emissions and growth.
  • Contributes to local communities’ sustainable development by improving air and water quality, creating jobs, and enhancing infrastructure, aligning with global sustainability goals.

Australian Units

Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) and Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGCs) are pivotal in Australia’s climate action and renewable energy promotion.
ACCUs
ACCUs are awarded to projects that reduce or avoid emissions through methods like reforestation, savannah burning, and capturing landfill gas, with each ACCU representing a tonne of CO2-e mitigated.

LGCs
LGCs are generated from renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power, under the Renewable Energy Target (RET) scheme, with each LGC corresponding to one megawatt-hour of renewable electricity supplied to the grid. Companies can buy and retire these types of units to offset or avoid emissions, reduce their carbon footprint, and meet sustainability goals.

International Units

Voluntary Carbon Units (VCUs) are instrumental in the global strategy to combat climate change, offering entities a way to voluntarily offset their carbon footprint.

These units are generated by projects that either reduce or remove greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere, encompassing a wide range of activities including reforestation, renewable energy initiatives, and various community-driven projects. Beyond their primary environmental benefits, many of these projects deliver significant social co-benefits, such as:

  • Improving local air and water quality
  • Enhancing biodiversity, and
  • Supporting economic development within communities

Importantly, VCUs often align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), contributing to broader global objectives like combating poverty, ensuring access to clean energy, and fostering sustainable economic growth. By purchasing VCUs, businesses and individuals not only neutralise their own emissions but also contribute to positive social and environmental outcomes worldwide, reinforcing the interconnectedness of climate action and sustainable development.
